A few things to make sure you stay healthy if you are in a wheelchair:
Always keep a good supply of 409 or a bleach based cleaner around. Spray down toilet seats before you use them, and make
sure to spray down the sitting area on your chair often. Infections are easy to avoid, and an infection can easily put you
in the hospital. My friend spent 6 months in the hospital after I left, and his new roommate didn't keep the house clean enough
for him to avoid infections.
Use a good strong laundry detergent on clothes, and double wash them if needed. Keeping your clothes as clean as possible
will help prevent infection.
Make sure to tape over any sharp points on your chair. A single cut on my roommates rear is what put him in the hospital,
and the cut came from a rivet on the chair frame.
Keep your spirits up, and nobody will really notice the chair. After a while, my buddy "wasn't in a chair', he was "strolling
with me". Life is a state of mind first, not a state of body.
